WinIt with connected Logger, GPS2CAN antenna and DashTFT

Introduction

The program WinIt is the 2D tool to communicate between computer and 2D Logger, Dashboard and all other modules for setting them up or to download data from internal logger memory.

The communication can be done the following ways:

• via USB-cable (COM)

• via Wi-Fi (2D modules with built-in Wi-Fi interface)

• via Ethernet (2D modules with Ethernet interface)

WinIt is started by pressing on WinARace-button Communication or by pressing F2.

Important

In WinARace-Settings, it can be choosen what should happen if WinARace detects that a 2D module is connected (open WinIt, start download, do nothing).

Important

Beside only adapting setting of loaded 2D Logger, Dashboard or other modules, in WinIt the module setting files (.LDD-files) can be opened and modified!

Main window

The main window consists of four main areas:

File

• Load device from file: Starts the dialog to search/select files

• Save device in file: Saves the setting of the currently selected device

• Save subtree in file: Saves only the currently selected sub-tree (Interfaces, Channels, Tables) as file

• Save device for compare: Compare two settings

• Save whole system: Saves the settings of the complete system

• Load measurement/calibration: Opens the dialog to select a channel setting of a measurement. If you change the settings of a channel there, this will influence the data shown in Analyzer.

• Load Sensorlist: Loads a channel list with default 2D sensor channel settings

• Load Standardsystem: Loads

• Import: Imports channel settings via CAN-DB, ASAP2 (A2L), ASAP2 (A2L) for CCP or Calculation channels definition

• Exports: Exports the channel settings as CAN-DB or Calculation channels definition

• Exit: Close WinIt

Important

In tab File also a list of last 10 in WinIt loaded settings is shown!

Device

• Find: Start search routine. WinIt will look for a system or module, which is not yet visible in the system tree

• Remove device: Selected device or setting will be removed from system tree

• Remove system: Selected system will be removed from system tree

• Remove all systems: All systems will be removed from system tree

• Load latest setting for device: For currently selected device a list of settings (see here) is shown to load latest settings of this device

• Load file and send to device: Select setting file and directly send to currently selected device

Specials

• Countdown: Set, Start and Stop Timer which can be displayed in Detail area when no module or setting is read in

• Manual decompress: please refer to the WinIt manual on how to manually decompress recorded data

• Switch memory dump: Switches from normal download function to memory dump. Please refer to the WinIt manual for further information.

• Reset to permanent setting: Resets the module to the previously saved permanent settings

• Reset to factory defaults: Resets the module to the factory defaults

• Reset WiFi Module:

• Fix loggeraddresses: Define a new communication address for the module. Please refer to the WinIt manual for further information.

• Update firmware: Starts the firmware update process

• Send dealer setting to device: Option to send a dealer setting to a module

• Send factory setting to device: Option to send a factory setting to a module

• Build stream blocks for upload:

• Make current setting permanent: Function to save a setting as a permanent setting to the module

• Search devices over TCP/IP: Starts the search for 2D modules which are connected to the PC via TCP/IP

• Scan COM-Ports: Starts the search for 2D modules which are connected to the PC via USB

Options

• Poll communication ports: This activates or deactivates the communication. If the polling is activated and a system connected, WinIt checks once a second if a device is still connected. If not, the icon in the system tree changes. In addition the channel values are updated through polling.

• Auto-Update: The memory usage shown by WinIt is the usage at the moment of the login procedure. If the device is still recording, the recording is normally not updated. To update the memory usage, enable this function. The software will check it once a second and update the memory information and bar.

• Auto-Download: This is used to change from setting mode to auto-download mode. While in auto-download mode, WinIt periodically checks all active ports for 2D devices. If devices are found, the download starts immediately.

Help

• Help: Open 2D Help website

• Keyboard commands: Open list with shortcuts

• Show documentation folder: Open documentation directory of 2D software installation

• Send supportmail to 2D: Creates a zip file with all necessary information to send to 2D for support.

Toolbar

WinIt - Toolbar Icons

• A: Activating or deactivating communication.

  • Green: Communication is active

  • Red: Communication is inactive

• B: Start search routine. Use this to make WinIt read a system or module, which is not yet visible in the system tree

• C: Looks for 2D modules connected via TCP/IP.

• D: Looks for 2D modules connected via USB.

• E: Unload all devices and files, but the software tries to find and read devices afterwards.

• F: Currently selected device or file is unloaded.

• G: Clear the memory of the currently selected device.

• H: Toggle between normal and group view.

  • In normal view the channels are sorted in the tree by their type.

  • In group view they are sorted by their group membership

• I: Turn auto - update mode on or off.

  • In auto - update mode ON, the usage of memory is read and updated periodically.

• J: Activate/deactivate the filter function for the channel value displayings.

• K: Send the auto-zero command to all devices of the selected system. If a device receives this command all channels with the auto-zero flag are set to zero.

• L: Open window which indicates the position of the output channel of a dashboard or the pin-position of the connector of an input signal.

• M: Toggle between full login and smart login. In full login the complete setting of all connected devices is read.

  • Smart login only reads the complete setting of the master logger. Other devices are only read partially

• N: Toggles between setting mode and auto-download mode.

• O: Docks/undocks the protocol to the main window.

• P: Activate Help

• Q: This button is only active if something is changed on a loaded or connected logger. Clicking the button makes WinIt write the changes to the device or file.
